Permission marketing is the privilege (not the right) of delivering anticipated, personal and relevant messages to people who actually want to get them.
It recognizes the new power of the best consumers to ignore marketing. It realizes that treating people with respect is the best way to earn their attention.
Pay attention is a key phrase here, because permission marketers understand that when someone chooses to pay attention they are actually paying you with something precious. And there's no way they can get their attention back if they change their mind. Attention becomes an important asset, something to be valued, not wasted.
Real permission is different from presumed or legalistic permission. Just because you somehow get my email address doesn't mean you have permission. Just because I don't complain doesn't mean you have permission. Just because it's in the fine print of your privacy policy doesn't mean it's permission either.
Real permission works like this: if you stop showing up, people complain, they ask where you went.
I got a note from a Daily Candy reader the other day. He was upset because for three days in a row, his Daily Candy newsletter hadn't come. That's permission.
Permission is like dating. You don't start by asking for the sale at first impression. You earn the right, over time, bit by bit.
One of the key drivers of permission marketing, in addition to the scarcity of attention, is the extraordinarily low cost of dripping to people who want to hear from you. RSS and email and other techniques mean you don't have to worry about stamps or network ad buys every time you have something to say. Home delivery is the milkman's revenge... it's the essence of permission.
Permission doesn't have to be formal but it has to be obvious. My friend has permission to call me if he needs to borrow five dollars, but the person you meet at a trade show has no such ability to pitch you his entire resume, even though he paid to get in.
Subscriptions are an overt act of permission. That's why home delivery newspaper readers are so valuable, and why magazine subscribers are worth more than newsstand ones.
In order to get permission, you make a promise. You say, "I will do x, y and z, I hope you will give me permission by listening." And then, this is the hard part, that's all you do. You don't assume you can do more. You don't sell the list or rent the list or demand more attention. You can promise a newsletter and talk to me for years, you can promise a daily RSS feed and talk to me every three minutes, you can promise a sales pitch every day (the way Woot does). But the promise is the promise until both sides agree to change it. You don't assume that just because you're running for President or coming to the end of the quarter or launching a new product that you have the right to break the deal. You don't.
Permission doesn't have to be a one-way broadcast medium. The internet means you can treat different people differently, and it demands that you figure out how to let your permission base choose what they hear and in what format.
When I launched my book that coined this phrase 9 years ago, I offered people a third of the book for free in exchange for an email address. And I never, ever did anything with those addresses again. That wasn't part of the deal. No follow ups, no new products. A deal's a deal.
If it sounds like you need humility and patience to do permission marketing, you're right. That's why so few companies do it properly. The best shortcut, in this case, is no shortcut at all.

Kevin D. Mitnick - The Art of Deception: Controlling the Human Element of Security
Publisher: Wiley | ISBN: 076454280X | edition 2003 | PDF | 577 pages | 3,61 mb
Mitnick is the most famous computer hacker in the world. Since his first arrest in 1981, at age 17, he has spent nearly half his adult life either in prison or as a fugitive. He has been the subject of three books and his alleged 1982 hack into NORAD inspired the movie War Games. Since his plea-bargain release in 2000, he says he has reformed and is devoting his talents to helping computer security. It's not clear whether this book is a means toward that end or a, wink-wink, fictionalized account of his exploits, with his name changed to protect his parole terms. Either way, it's a tour de force, a series of tales of how some old-fashioned blarney and high-tech skills can pry any information from anyone. As entertainment, it's like reading the climaxes of a dozen complex thrillers, one after the other. As a security education, it's a great series of cautionary tales; however, the advice to employees not to give anyone their passwords is bland compared to the depth and energy of Mitnick's descriptions of how he actually hacked into systems. As a manual for a would-be hacker, it's dated and nonspecific better stuff is available on the Internet but it teaches the timeless spirit of the hack. Between the lines, a portrait emerges of the old-fashioned hacker stereotype: a socially challenged, obsessive loser addicted to an intoxicating sense of power that comes only from stalking and spying.

Посветих много "време" на темата за Кевин Митник, като много познати също ми помогнаха след като бяхме разговаряли за какво става въпрос...
"The Art of Deception: Controlling the Human Element of Security" и "The Art of Intrusion" са две от книгите, които могат да се намерят на пазара и у нас, но с много орязан превод и съдържание на препратки - линкове с примери и програми, които автора/ите описват:

Advertising does not need to be expensive in order to attract customers. Why not use the most effective tool at your disposal, use internet marketing.
Gone are the days when you have to allot a huge percentage of money in order to advertise your product and services. It does not take a genius to use the internet so anybody with the willingness to have their products noticed can take advantage of the wonders of the world wide web.
There are various ways by which you can advertise through the internet such as pay per click, blogging, article marketing, and e-mail marketing. All you need to do is have enough knowledge about these marketing strategies so you can use to them to their full advantage. You can do all these four strategies or you can do a combination. But first, you need to specify your target customers. Of course this should be in relation with the product that you are selling. Define what age-bracket you would be selling your product to. Find out what is trendy among these people. Find out what lingo should you be using in order to connect with them. It is always wise to connect with your customers. Potential customers often look for produtcs or services that they can relate to more than they can afford to pay.
Be sincere in your advertisements. Make sure that you let them know that you are more concerned about giving them what they need or want more than you are in earning a big profit. Make sure to let them know that you are proud of your product or services but at some discreetness. Don't sound obnoxious. With these, use your choise of internet marketing strategy and generate much traffic to your own website if you have one or just earn from pay per click when people start noticing your product. With these tips, you can have more customers than you can imagine in 24 hours or less.
About the author:

I will teach you how you can join 20,000 different websites with 20,000 different passwords and login to all 20,000 sites without forgetting a single password. How?
read on
choose 4 symbols any 4 and remeber them, start your password with 2 of them. like this
$%
***** Dictonary attacks will always start with a letter, but some letters are commonly replaced with a symbol like "a" for @ or "s" for $ so an attacker can add both to the script so it tries both "simple" and $imple, by adding 2 symbols to the begining you eliminate this risk is one of the symbols you choose is not one that is standard to replace letters*****
choose a name, not your own i'll use my dogs, Max, but wow its only 3 letters long and anyone can guess it? sure they gotta guess one of 810,000 formulae too remember. this formulae uses 4 symbols $% at the start and #^ at the end
**** just for showing how it works****
so start with for Max
$%M
**** for using Max i chose to capitalise the M but if its a longer word you can capitalise the 3rd or 4th or last letter as long as you apply the same formulae to all your passwords, you'll never forget your password again****
then use the standard @ for the a
$%M@
drop the last letter and replace with the 3rd symbol of your formulae
**** Dropping the last letter is important, because what you are trying to do is make standard words in the dictionary, none exsistant. i know this wont work with the letter S as it would revert the name to the singular, we are not all perfect lol ****
$%M@#
and now add the last symbol of your formulae
$%M@#^ = 95% strong from using my dogs name Max and not a mile long
any generic name used needs to have the vowles change for symbols like a=@ e=3 i=1 o=0 u=^
so to login into 20,000 sites without having to remember the password use this. but only the first 6 letters of the domain name. take boonex.com
**** i use 6 letters from the domain, but if the domain has only 4 letters then add 2 numbers after the 1st 2 symbols, this ensures you can still drop the last letter of the name. see below ****
boonex.com would be using this formulae $%B00n3#^ 100% strong
expertzzz.com would be $%Exp3r#^ 100% strong
*** you done have to capitalise the 1st letter, i did it here to demonstrate, you can capitalise the 3rd letter so boonex.com would be: $%b0On3#^ 100% strong. expertzzz.com would be $%exP3r#^ 100% strong
*** for sites with less than 6 letters in the name use numbers you can remember, like 1982 for my year of birth, (dont use that, its just an example) add the numbers after the first 2 symbols so we can still drop the last letter***
msn.com would be $%198Ms#^
bebo.com would be $%19B3b#^
! " £ $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + - = < . , : ; @ ' ~ # [ { ] } \ | ` =30 symbols choose any 4 to make 2 pair
as pointed out in a comment, if the webmaster does not hash your passwords and keeps them in his database in the clear, they only have the one for their own site so can not use it to get to your other accounts like hotmail because he also has your email address you supplied.
________________________________________
Well the 1st thing to remember is this, its for you to make your own formulae, the post is to get you thinking, not to follow everything i have posted. you see i used 4 symbols, 2 at the start to at the end, you can use 3 or 4 at the start and 2,3, or 4 at the end, or in the middle, the post is to get you thinking of how to make your passwords for you, so you can use them and remember them. i used very basic and symplistic demo's i made people think, now they can go away and think of the other ways to apply a formulae (i am not doing all the thinking for you, nor am i going to post a 3 mile long post showing every way you can apply this. again, one webmaster with one password, has nothing to compare it with to see its a formulae, again the passwords today should in most cases be in MD5 hashed code so safe as long as you do not use one to make your password, or a strenth meter as mentioned above.
